Golf courses in the Scottish Highlands to visit during your stay

You’ll find many of the most beautiful (and challenging) golf courses in the world in Scotland. And nowhere is better known for its golf than the Highlands. In fact, golf courses in the Scottish Highlands feature regularly in lists of the world’s top 100 courses. So if you’re planning a spot of golf during your stay with us at Eagle Brae log cabin resort, you’ll find plenty of wonderful courses nearby. From world-class championship links to local parkland courses.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club

Distance from Eagle Brae: 54 miles

This is one of Scotland’s finest championship courses. Royal Dornoch is just over an hour’s drive from Eagle Brae. It’s a course many golfers aspire to play, with its spellbinding scenery and wild, isolated feel. Backed by magnificent white beaches, the course was established in 1877. There are actually two courses here: the Championship Course and the smaller Struie Course, ideal for families and less experienced golfers. If you’re playing golf in Scotland, this is a must.

Castle Stuart Golf Links

Distance from Eagle Brae: 33 miles

Scottish golf doesn’t get much better than this championship links course. Castle Stuart Golf Links is just a 50-minute drive from Eagle Brae. With views over the Moray Firth, this 18-hole course features a rugged, natural landscape and challenging holes. There’s also a 350-yard Practice Range with a ‘short game area’ and a Practice Putting Green, as well as a clubhouse and restaurant with outdoor patio, for a few after-game drinks.

Muir of Ord Golf Club

Distance from Eagle Brae: 15 miles

In under half an hour, you can drive to Muir of Ord Golf Club, with its stunning scenery and views of Ben Wyvis and the Beauly Firth. Opened in 1875, the course is one of seven courses on the James Braid Highland Golf Trail. The golf club offers golf and whisky packages where you can enjoy 18 holes followed by a tour and tasting at Glen Ord Distillery!

Nairn Golf Club

Distance from Eagle Brae: 39 miles

Just over an hour’s drive away, Nairn Golf Club is a prestigious course, founded in 1887. It has hosted many important championships, including the Walker Cup and Curtis Cup. The challenging links has magnificent views of the Moray Firth and Black Isle from all 18 holes. It also has a practice area, clubhouse, dining room and pro shop.

Inverness Golf Club

Distance from Eagle Brae: 24 miles

This historic club dates from 1883 and is located on the outskirts of Inverness. Around a 45-minute drive from Eagle Brae, Inverness Golf Club has a well-maintained 18-hole parkland course with tree-lined fairways. With great access to the city of Inverness and all its amenities, this is a good alternative to the traditional links courses. It also has a practice range, clubhouse, restaurant and pro shop.

Aigas Golf Club

Distance from Eagle Brae: 8 miles

With 9 holes, this scenic parkland course is smaller than the others on our list. But it’s also the closest, just outside Beauly. Aigas Golf Club is only a 15-minute drive from Eagle Brae. The course is well-maintained with a good variation of holes, suitable for all levels.
