The Green Tourism Business Scheme

The Green Tourism Business Scheme

The Green Tourism Business Scheme is a nationwide initiative to promote sustainable business within the tourism industry.  Its emphasis is not just upon sustainable and efficient infrastructure, but also on the operational side of its members.

The scheme grades every business with a bronze, silver or gold level award. It uses many different measuring criteria which include the installation of renewable power, the provision of wildlife information and recycling facilities, the use of low energy appliances and the displaying of notices urging customers to use less water and power. The measurement criteria are extremely comprehensive and detailed, making it a real challenge for a business to attain a gold medal.
The scheme is a great way to reassure people who wish to book an environmentally responsible holiday that their preferred establishment is genuinely focussed on environmental awareness and sustainability.

Accreditation under the Green Tourism Business Scheme isn’t possible until a business is open and operating. As such Eagle Brae has not been graded as yet. However we are strongly focussed on achieving the gold award as soon as we open for business.
