Buteo
Buteo is one of Eagle Brae’s large log cabins Scotland, set on level ground with open views and easy access. It sleeps four to six guests and is ideal for families, older visitors, and anyone who prefers a gentle approach rather than steep slopes. As one of our spacious group log cabins, Buteo gives you room to relax in the Scottish Highlands.
This large log cabin also sits close to the Hebridean four-horn sheep paddock, where Jo, Truttus, and Jupiter graze. Children love visiting the sheep, and adults enjoy the character they bring to the landscape. Buteo is also the nearest cabin to reception, making it easy to stop by for local tips or a complimentary hot chocolate before you head out. However, the cabin faces away from the rest of Eagle Brae, so when you are on the deck, you still feel as though you are in your own private corner of Strathglass. This positions you to enjoy one of the most peaceful large log cabins to rent Scotland.
The name Buteo comes from the Latin for buzzard. These impressive birds are regular visitors, gliding above the glen and circling the ridges. Guests often watch them from the deck, and if you are new to birdwatching, you can read our guide to birdwatching in the Scottish Highlands before you arrive at Eagle Brae.
Buteo log cabin features
At Eagle Brae in the Scottish Highlands, Buteo sleeps four to six people in a flexible layout. It has two double or twin bedrooms and two single character log beds on the mezzanine. This setup makes Buteo ideal for family holidays, mixed-age parties, and log cabin holidays for large groups. The upstairs bedroom also comes with its own ensuite bathroom, while the ground floor has an additional shower room. This keeps busy mornings running smoothly in this large log cabin Scotland.
Within the main living space, you’ll find a sitting area, kitchen, and dining corner. All of this makes it easy for everyone to gather together in one place. In addition, card western red cedar logs add warmth and texture, and large windows frame the hillsides of Strathglass, the Highlands. On the mezzanine, you will also find a small office nook. This gives you a quiet spot to plan walks, read, or take care of remote work while the rest of your group enjoys time downstairs.
Outside, Buteo has a generous deck with seating. Because the cabin faces away from the rest of the resort, the deck is private and peaceful. You can sit there with a morning coffee or an evening drink and watch light move across the glen. The views and the space make Buteo a relaxing choice for log cabin holidays for large groups.
